International Women’s Day: A Celebration of Female Brilliance—with a dash of sass and pinch of reality check

March 8th, the day we all remember that women are basically running the world, and we just need to catch up. It’s not just about wearing purple, posting your #IWD2025 hashtag, or doing that obligatory "we love women" post on social media. Oh no, my friend, it’s about celebrating the fact that women are doing it all—from boardrooms to home offices, from juggling careers to managing what seems like the entire planet.

But wait… let’s sprinkle in a little truth bomb for good measure.

1. Women Are Multitasking Legends... But Sometimes, It’s Just a Disaster:

While some of us are struggling to remember if we fed the dog this morning, women are already thinking about dinner, responding to emails, organizing social events, making sure their kids know how to tie their shoes and creating Excel spreadsheets that even the best of us are afraid to open. But let’s be honest, sometimes those spreadsheets look more like a work of abstract art than anything functional. Multitasking? Sure, but it’s a miracle if we don’t burn the dinner and forget to pick up the dry cleaning.

2. We’re All About the Pay Gap, But Let’s Not Forget the Style Gap:

Yes, we’re fighting for equal pay, but have you ever seen how stylish women are while fighting the patriarchy? Not only are we doing it with brains, but we’re doing it in a blazer that costs more than your entire monthly rent. But also, let’s talk about how that blazer is still too tight because we’ve been eating cereal for dinner and drowning in stress. Fashion is fierce, but sometimes, it’s more about surviving the day than slaying the look.

3. The Work-Life Balance? It's an Urban Legend, Sweetie:

We all hear about the elusive “work-life balance” women supposedly have, but let’s be real—it's like a unicorn. Yes, we try. Yes, we pretend. But in reality, we are probably answering emails in the car while pretending to listen to our kids’ life stories. And yes, while we might make it look easy, there’s also a solid chance we cried into our coffee this morning. That’s not magic; it’s caffeine and sheer willpower.

4. And Don’t Even Get Us Started on 'Being Nice':

We’re constantly told to “be nice” or “smile more.” Well, here’s a thought: maybe we’re just busy being amazing and don’t have time to grin through another lecture on how to behave. But let’s also be real—sometimes, we are tired. Like, so tired. So, no, we’re not grinning through it all. Sometimes, we’re just trying to make it through the day without falling apart. And that’s okay, too.

5. Women, the Real Social Media Managers:

Forget influencers—women have been managing social circles, maintaining relationships, and keeping everything together long before “engagement” meant more than a ring on the finger. We run the conversation, set the trends, and curate the content. Instagram? Please, we invented the "look-at-my-coffee" aesthetic in real life. But also, let’s be real: some days we forget to even post our own coffee because we’re too busy posting for everyone else.

6. We’ve Been Speaking Up, Even When No One Was Listening:

International Women’s Day isn’t just about celebrating now; it’s about celebrating centuries of women who fought for the right to speak, to vote, to earn, and to exist beyond societal limits. We’ve been vocal even when the mic wasn’t turned on, and guess what? Now the world can hear us. But, fun fact: we’re still fighting for equal representation, equal pay, and, you know, basic decency. Women are still speaking up—and sometimes, we’re still not being listened to the way we should be. But we’re persistent.

A Little History, Because It’s Important, Darling:

Before we get too carried away with our woman-power flair, let’s take a brief historical detour. The origins of International Women’s Day go way back to 1908, when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding better pay, shorter hours, and the right to vote. Fast forward to today, and while we’ve made massive strides, let’s not forget that women are still fighting battles that seem like they should have been settled a century ago. The fight for equality is real, and it’s far from over.
